Richard qualified as a Solicitor in 1979.
In 1983 he became a partner at MacLaren Warner Solicitors in Nottingham.
In 1993 he was appointed as a part-time Chairman of Employment Tribunals (now Judge). Between 1994 and 1999 he was Head of Employment Law Department and partner in Berryman & Co. Solicitors, Nottingham.
Richard has 25 years of experience as an Employment Lawyer. He has represented employers (including blue chip companies) and employees in both Employment Tribunals and the Employment Appeal Tribunal. He deals with a wide range of employment cases including unfair dismissal, breach of contract, race discrimination, sex discrimination, disability discrimination and equal pay.
He is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association. Richard has lectured widely including for clients, holding a number of in-house seminars and for Central Law Training and IBC conferences.
His outside interests include golf and horse racing. As if he wasn't busy enough, Richard is married to Marje and has 3 grown up (sometimes) boys.
